The
Leo Club of SMK Damansara Jaya invited Ex-Malaysian Youth Icon, Miss Chew Hoong
Ling to give a talk themed in Organ Donation Awareness entitled ‘Why I Gave my
Liver to a Stranger’. The target audience of this talk encompasses students
from class 4 Angsana, 4 Balau and 4 Batai. They were ushered to the School hall
at 10.45 am after their recess time to attend this meaningful and empowering
talk.
Once they arrive at the hall and settle down in their respective seats,
emcee and organizing chairperson Leo Tee Ke Hui began with welcoming the
teachers and students. A brief profile of Miss Chew’s rich and astounding
experiences and achievements as an avid volunteer in humanitarian work
especially as an advocate of organ donation was read out to the audience. The
emcee then hand over the floor to the speaker. The speaker, Miss Chew Hoong
Ling shared her experiences and journey as a humanitarian and a liver donor
with spectacular charisma as she is also an international emcee who travelled
abroad often to give inspirational talks and workshops.
After one hour of
sharing, she then showed the audience several public announcements and
inspirational videos to create an everlasting impact on the gist of her talk
which is to advocate for organ donation and organ donation pledge. The crowd
was very moved by her inspirational talk which reflected professionalism and
sincerity in her advocacy. Following that, students and teacher engaged in a
Q&A session with our distinguished speaker who has a very intriguing
background and she is also one who has attained utmost achievement in her
career and volunteer works. After that, we thanked Miss Hoong Ling tremendously
for sharing her remarkable journey with us.
A photography session commenced
where inspired faces and those timeless moments were captured on camera. Our
teacher advisor, Pn Ng and Pn Wong were then invited to present a souvenir to
Miss Chew Hoong Ling as a token of appreciation for her kindness to dedicate
her busy Friday morning for this school services activity. The session ended at
12.00 pm and the supportive students helped the Leo Members to stack up the
chairs. After that, they proceeded back to their classes while the Leo members
ushered Miss Chew from the hall mirthfully.
