July Completed Project - Odd Jobs For Hope.
Name of Project: Odd Jobs For Hope. Time / Date: 7.30a.m. - 1.00p.m. / 23th July 2011
Venue: Housing area around SMK Damansara Jaya
Organizing Chairperson: Leo Ho Khai
Brief Objectives:
· Forge closer bonds between SMK Damansara Jaya’s Leo Club's members.
· Allow the students to help the community and to pick up additional skills.
· Raise funds for upcoming projects and to be channeled out to those in need.
On the 23rd of July 34 eager and ready to help Leo’s gathered in front of the school as early as 7.30am for the project Odd Jobs organized by Leo Ho Khai. The day began with a briefing session conducted by the organizing chairperson explaining routes and tasks to each group. The three groups headed by Leos Ho Khai, Christy Yong and Ng Sher Wu embarked on their journeys. Group 1 lead by Ho Khai started off into Jalan SS22A/5. Group 2 lead by Christy Yong moved into Jalan 22A/2 and Group 3 lead by Ng Sher Wu went to Jalan 22A/1. The three groups went around the neighbourhood offering services such as gardening and car washes to raise funds. At roughly 1.30pm when we were all beat and tired with all the washing and weeding, we rallied together to see how much we made. A total of RM665 was raised to be used in future projects and to be given to those in need. The project was a success in a sense that we managed to raise a lot more than we expected and the members themselves were given a chance to bond and further get to know each other. Who knew washing cars on a Saturday morning could actually be quite fun?

- Instill a sense of awareness towards the importance of recycling amongst students.
- Forge closer bonds amongst members of the Leo Club.
- Provide students who do not participate in activities on Sports Day beneficial activity.
Brief Description of Project:
The 7th of July 2011 was a morning full of excitement and activity, the students of SMK Damansara Jaya marched on to Stadium MPPJ for the annual sports day. The Leo’s of SMK Damansara Jaya had another agenda at hand though. A project to instill environmental awareness amongst students. Your Trash Is Our Treasure. The main purpose of the project was to collect the aluminum cans and plastic bottles used on that day. The hardworking Leo’s tied black plastic bags around the stadium for recycling purposes only. Signs were placed to indicate that the bags were solely to collect these recyclable items. By the hour, the Leo’s on duty went around checking the plastic bags. Those that were full were replaced ready to collect more cans and bottles. At 1.00pm when the event came to a halt, all the cans were washed and the cans were crushed so they could be kept without smelling awful. The bottles were washed and kept to be used in future projects. The cans were given to the Go Green Club of SMK Damansara Jaya. All in all, it was a tiring day for all students be it athlete, marcher, cheerleader and even Leo.

- Create a more comfortable and cheerful environment in the school hall.
- Clean and enrich the school enviroment.
Brief Description of Project:
At 2.30pm, the participating Leo members gathered in the hall, getting ready to clean the chairs. Leo Joshua Lim and Leo Ho Khai carried the chairs out of the hall. The chairs were then unstacked by Leo Shawn Ong, Leo Delon Wong and Leo Teoh Wilson. After that, the chairs were rinsed and washed with water. Then, Leo Chien Han, Leo Teoh Wilson, Leo Ho Khai and Leo Delon Wong wiped the chairs dry. At 3.40, we had finished cleaning all the chairs. Leo Teoh Wilson, Leo Shawn Ong, Leo Shi Wen, and Leo Chien Han stacked up the chairs and carried them back into the hall. · To provide opportunities for upcoming Board of Directors to lead, plan, manage matters related to this project and gain experience through this meaningful project.

Then soon the emcees Leo Haris Zukki and Leo Goh Voon Pang opened the show. The event was themed, Challenge, the leader in me. Then the event started off with a cheer dance performance performed by our school’s Kesatria house cheerleading team. The opening performance was followed by the national anthem, flag salutation by Leo Sean Low and Leo pledge by Leo Jia Yang. Then were the speeches by Lions and Leos. Membership certificates were then given to Form 5 Leos as an appreciation from the club. After that, a cake presentation was held to celebrate our Leo Club’s 20th anniversary. Then the lucky draw was conducted and 6 lucky winners went home with even bigger smiles on their faces. The performance roll began with a dance number by a group of girls. First was a singing performance by Intan, then a student from our school performed an extravagant face changing performance. A group named Blueberry Cheesecake continued the show with a lovely song. Then, Ian Tan’s group brought the crowd back with his acoustic renditions of renown songs. And lastly, the show was closed with our board of directors performance. After the performance, the event came to an end with refreshments served to all the guests.

Recycle your empty mineral bottles!
Hi!
As you all know, we're organizing a recycling bottles project. All the collected empty mineral bottles will be used to make a malaysia flag! Hard to explain about the details but I can assure you, you'll be surprised with the outcome!
But here's the thing, we need you guys to help collect empty mineral bottles! The more the merrier! But it's okay too if it's only 2 or 3 of them. As long as you help! :)
Please pass it to Leo Christopher Wong, 4 Nemesu. By this week would be great. :)
