On the 24th of June 2012 from 10.30 till 12.30 pm, an event called E-Thon was held in SMK Damansara Jaya.
In order to play a part in saving mother nature, the Leos of SMKDJ have decided to organize a recycling project named 'Ethology'.
The objective of the project was to cultivate the attitude of loving the environment in the students themselves, foster closer ties and friendship among Leos, raise funds for the school and decrease the production of plastic bottles and tins.
The project held was mainly to collect recyclable items namely plastics and tins only ( straws and other dirty stuff included ).
The committee members arrived at school around 7.30 and made sure that everything and everyone was ready. Once ready, we walked around the school to collect all available plastic items and tins they could find, some even went through rubbish bins just to collect them.
After few hours of collecting any recyclable items, we proceeded by rinsing the tins and plastics with water so that it would clean.
Alas, the clean collected items were brought to the recycling center by Leo Lee Yennie. We have managed to earn an amount of Rm 2.50.
Although we have only earned Rm 2.50, all of us did have a blast while carrying out this project and we have learnt the importance of working together as a team and to plan and startegize to make an event successful.
All the committee members really did enjoy helping out in this project and definitely gained much through it.
